Devlog #1 — The Vanishing Train

Hi, and welcome to this page.

I'm working on a 3D action RPG in my spare time, next to a full-time job. Progress won't be fast, but it will be steady. Along the way I'll share updates, thoughts, and sometimes ask for feedback.

For now, the project goes by the working title The Beyond 37.

It blends exploration, quests, crafting, building, and combat, all wrapped around a mysterious story that unfolds at your own pace. The game is being made for singleplayer as well as cooperative multiplayer (up to four players).

At this stage I'm focusing mainly on core functionality: the systems that drive gameplay—combat, progression, interaction, multiplayer logic. Visual polish will come later, once the foundation is reliable.

Prologue – The Crossing

The locomotive shook and rattled westward, through the frontier mountains where smoke curled into the night. I remember the people around me: miners with coal still on their skin, a merchant shuffling papers, a woman calming her child, two young men whispering of gold. The train carried us all, strangers on the same road of iron.

Then I noticed it.

The wind was gone. The whistle did not return my echo. The clatter of wheels faded until only a hum remained, low and steady, vibrating inside my chest. The others heard it too. Faces turned pale. Lamps flickered.

Mist pressed against the windows, erasing every trace of mountain and sky. We drifted forward, swallowed whole.

And then it came.

Green. More green than I had ever seen. Leaves larger than doors, vines twisted like serpents, the air hot and wet as breath itself. Gasps filled the car, but no words. We all knew, without saying: the train was gone.

It had crossed.

And one hundred years later, you will walk where we first arrived.

What’s Next

I'll be sharing progress in small steps—starting with core mechanics and multiplayer systems before diving into visuals. Early updates will focus more on how it works than on how it looks.

If this project sparks your curiosity, feel free to follow this page. Every step I take will bring The Beyond 37 a little closer to becoming a world you can step into.
